Those who are interested in photography, and even those who are not interested, are probably aware that there are many different types of photography, as well as methods for taking, displaying, and portraying it. Still life photography, nature photography, landscape photography, and many other types, as well. Probably one of the more unheard of types, however, is called scene photography. This involves taking pictures of a certain scene, action, or occurrence, and is considered by many to be one of the most difficult types of photography to master.
So what are some tips on how to become not only a great scene photographer, but an overall better photographer in the long run? Many people try to portray a certain feeling within their photography, which is best done using different shades and lighting techniques. For example, for a picture to feel cold and scary, the photographer would want dark shades and shadows in their picture. On the other hand, for example, if the photographer wanted the picture to feel warm and inviting, they would make sure there were bright colors and shades displayed throughout. This is one of the most important steps in creating the correct feeling in a picture.
Another very important tip when it comes to scene photography is the angle at which the picture is taken. Taking a picture at a certain angle or time of day can totally change the message of the picture. Many experienced photographers try to take pictures at many different angles in order to get every angle and aspect covered of what they are trying to portray. The more pictures that are taken at different angles, with different lighting, the more opportunities the photographer will have to find that perfect shot.
