The Hobby of Scenic Photography

The world is a beautiful place. Once you get past the concrete jungles and out into the mountains, meadows and fields of a country setting, you see sights that cannot be copied in the city.

You can find so many beautiful settings to take pictures of. There are meadows, with their dainty little flowers and greenery, hills, woods, forests and mountains, with their majestic trees, or farmlands, with their grain, corn and hay fields blowing in the wind.

One should not forget about the animals that live in all of these scenic places. You can find so many varieties of birds in just about every size and color. There are also squirrels, rabbits, possums, porcupines and, the all time favorite, the skunk. There are mainly found in the outlying country and suburbs. If one is to venture deep into the country, deer, bears, cats, and other large animals would be found.

If you do your research on the area you are going to, you can find out what is living in that area. You can research their habits, where they nest, eat or mate, and, with caution and the right equipment, you can catch some sights that you would never have dreamed you could find.

Along with the animals, are the flowers of every size and colors, the trees of different types, the blanket snow laden fields and mountain tops, and the greener pastures in the spring. Even farm animals grazing in an open field will make a picture worth more than a thousand words.

One should also remember the waterways, as they can help create a visually stunning picture. There are natural lakes, streams, waterfalls, oceans, ponds and creeks, all just waiting for you and your camera.

Scenic photography is a self satisfying hobby, as well as the possibility of a lucrative income. Calendar, postcard and magazine companies are always looking for new and interesting photographs for their products.
