Landscape Photography for All Seasons

Landscape photography can be one of the most rewarding and fun hobbies for any photographer. From the novice to the professional, capturing the beauty of landscape photography is a worthy challenge. Each season of the year has distinct photographic qualities, and you don't have to search very far to find them.

Spring is the season that brings us beautiful flowers bursting through the ground after the winter thaw. Clumps of crocus and daffodils poking up through half frozen landscapes can be found in all regions of the country. Finding subjects for spring photos is as easy as walking through your garden or a local park.

Summer brings the sun and natural lighting is abundant for this season's photo shoots. Whether it's photos of flowers in bloom or rivers and waterfalls, summer is a magic season for landscape photography. Something as simple as a dark green meadow or a weeping willow tree with its summer leaves can make a stunning landscape photograph.

The fall season is known for its color splash of deciduous trees with their leaves turning beautiful shades of orange, red and gold. Different regions of the country offer many photo opportunities of these deep rich colors of fall. The fall gardens also contain sedums and other late blooming plants that make excellent subjects for this season’s landscape photography.

Winter photography is all about the snowy winter wonderland scenes and waterfalls frozen in midair. Even something as simple as fresh, powdery snow on an evergreen tree makes a good winter photograph.

The seasonal landscape photographer has an endless array of subjects and can create very beautiful photographs from very simple settings.
