Tips for Photographing Waterfalls

If you want to capture the spectacular beauty of a waterfall, then there are certain things you should know while photographing them. If done right, you can have amazing photos of some of the most beautiful sites around. Here are some basic tips for photographing waterfalls.

Shutter speed is one of the most important things in capturing a waterfall. The water is falling so fast, that if you do not have the proper speed, then it will look like a big blur. A shutter speed of 1 to 2 seconds will give you a beautiful picture. Also, try to use a slower film speed or use a low ISO setting to capture your waterfall. Having slower speed film or setting will give you better color and more detail in your picture.

Almost make sure to use a tripod. Tripods ensure that the camera stays completely still and stable, allowing for that perfect picture. The less movement you have while taking the picture, the better the picture will turn out.

Do not take the picture on a completely sunny, bright day. It is better to take the picture when there is less light. Either early morning or during sundown, or even a somewhat cloudy day. With increased shutter speed, it will create more light, so be careful not to expose your picture to too much light.

Stick with these important tips to photographing waterfalls, and you will create beautiful photos for yourself. Enjoy the beauty that nature has to offer and enjoy knowing that you will be able to capture it all on your very own camera.
