Digital Photography Tips

When using a camera, the auto setting can sometimes make your pictures look clammy, with a cool feeling. If you want to change this, change your white balance setting from auto to cloudy, if your camera has this setting. This will make your pictures look more warm and alive by increasing the reds and yellows in your photographs. The first important step in taking outside portraits is by taking control of when your camera flashes. When the flash is on, the camera shows the background first, then adds enough flash to brighten the subject of the picture.

In order to capture great evening photos, turn off your flash. Make sure you set the shutter speed slower; this allows more light to come in. Flash is good for pictures if you keep your distance because a camera's flash has a range of ten feet. Therefore, if you're too far away, the photo will be too dark and if you're closer, the bright light messes up the detail in the photo. You can reduce red-eye by moving outdoors or into brighter light. Also, make sure the person does not look directly at the lens. By changing the angle of the camera, more creative shots will appear.

Framing your shot can make major differences in a photo. You can do this simply by paying attention to the surroundings of the environment, not just the subject. Sometimes pictures that are off-center are better looking and using different angles and directions can spice up the picture. When taking a scenery shot, it is a great idea to make sure you focus your camera by pressing the shutter button halfway down first. This will make the picture look fantastic.
