Photographing Scenery

In order to make photographs stand out, we need to take into consideration what is behind the subject being photographed. Remember, every photo has a background of some sort. The background is the scenery of a photograph. You may want to move the subject being photographed to the left or right in order to capture a better scene behind them. Putting a little distance between you and the subject will create action in the shot. A feeling of action can be achieved when you show the scene behind your subject.

When taking pictures along a scenic route, it is important to be aware of what is inside the frame of the picture. You may need to stop along the way and put a little time and effort into your shot. Also, the time of day will have some bearing on the type of picture you will achieve. If at all possible, plan ahead to be in a special spot early in the morning or late in the afternoon for special effects to your photos. Moving the skyline up or down in a shot can give you the feeling of motion in a scenic picture. Put the highest or lowest point to one side, but just make sure the shot is balanced.

Always use the best camera you can afford. Digital cameras should have a high pixel count for sharper images. Use a camera that you can attach lenses to for higher quality photos. Remember, the better the picture goes into the camera, the better the picture will come out.

Make sure you are comfortable with the equipment you are using. Learn to handle your equipment, and pay attention to the details. On your next trip you will have photographs that you will be proud to share.
