Digital Cameras

There are many types of digital cameras on the market today. Some of them are small and lightweight, while others are larger, professional grade cameras with many different accessories. The major classifications of digital cameras are compact cameras, ultra compacts, advanced digital cameras, all-in-ones, micro four thirds cameras, and digital single-lens reflex cameras.

The compact digital camera is one of the more popular personal cameras. It is capable of taking quality pictures and is lightweight and convenient to carry, and most have automatic features. Advanced digital cameras are geared toward advanced amateur photographers with skill levels between a professional and a general consumer. Most of these sport high quality lenses and advanced features for more creative control. Some have long, telephoto zoom lenses with ranges from wide to super telephoto. Digital single-lens reflex cameras, or DSLRs, are used mostly by professionals. These are top of the line digital cameras with outstanding optics that produce high resolution pictures. DSLRs function automatically but also have a full range of manual features for the professional to use. They also accept a wide range of lenses that vary in price. Some digital cameras are also capable of recording sound and short videos.

There are other types of digital cameras as well, such as all-in-ones and the newest type, which is the Micro Four Thirds camera introduced in 2008. There are also ultra compacts, which can fit in the palm of your hand. All of these types of digital cameras vary in price and performance and come with a wide range of features. Picture quality varies from average shots to high quality professional images.
