From "This" Beautiful Place with Love

Some of the most popular postcards depict elaborate and extraordinary locations. Landscapes are probably the most popular postcards. Postcards are a good way of giving those waiting for you back home an idea of what you are experiencing and where you are. They are also a inexpensive way in send word without the use of letters or envelopes. These cards are printed with some of the most beautiful landscapes in existence. Others illustrate some wild animals that dwell within the featured environment.

The postcard was patented by a man named John P.Carleton. He soon sold the rights to a man named H.L. Lipman. He would eventually produce a version of postcard with a decorated border and labeled with his own insignia. A Russian is actually the creator of the scenic postcard. May 30, 1877 would give birth to Isaac Braunstein. He and his family soon immigrated to New York City. Isaac would establish himself as a seller of not only scenic postcards but of various candies and gum. His first postcards depicted various landscapes in and across Newark.

Today many beautiful postcards are still used and mailed everyday. Some are personal and some professional. They also make great souvenirs. Postcards are still the easiest, most inexpensive way to contact someone far away, or even to buy and send in mass quantities for the purpose of advertising.
